Sea Spray 1

Mixed Media on Paper 25cm x 20cm

This painting (1 of 2) was made from debris left over on my painting dishes which I tore and scrunched and moulded and stuck together on paper creating the shapes of the rocks I used to scamper over on those heady wild days walking along the shore on the way home from school. My brother and I were constantly scolded for having salt tide marks on our black shoes which needed thorough cleaning and polishing virtually every day!

Pouring water and pure pigment and allowing this to enter every nook and cranny just as the sea did created a very 3D effect. Plaster of Paris and other pigments were sprinkled and dusted onto areas and the whole effect reminds me vividly of those days.
