FAMILY FEAST
October 1, 2015
The clients were keen to commission a painting their children would inherit; something meaningful for the whole family. So they compiled a list of their favourite foods and it was agreed that I would create a painting for them in the style of Patrick Caulfield incorporating some blue and white china, which they collect. The majority of these items were bought at car boot sales and I found one with a fisherman on it reflecting the client’s keen interest in fishing. There are five dining chairs, one for each member of the family. Some of the colours used were Farrow & Ball to match those of their new bespoke hand painted kitchen. Each type of food was bought and cooked where necessary. The temptation for my family to eat the crème eggs was overwhelming and these had to be replaced on a regular basis!
